…a beautiful mind?..

Assalamualaikum,

Time passes really fast, pejam celik pejam celik, and i’m facing my 2nd last posting in manipal.. OBG. Bak kata pidin… ” oBg —> oMg —-> Oh My God!! (@_@) ” :aie3: … well lets see how it goes… i have a feeling that omg obg is not my thing… lets just stick to medicine shall we.. =P

Well, its not OBG i want to talk about here…

Psychiatry…. yurp psychiatry… will be having end posting exams this tuesday, thus i’m stuck with this small black book of ahuja with terms that are exceptionally alien to me…… urgh…

psychiatry is… uhh.. well.. ermm.. see, first day i thought it was WEIRD.. and to quite some extent.. it was. But then, it seems to get more interesting ( plus the fact that some of the lecturers are mind blowing too… in the sense of  “are these lecturers …. or patients??” =P ). Being familiar to the ‘organic disease model of the body’, we are quite custom to the aetiological aspects of diseases… every disease has a firm visible cause that can be identified, seen, and appreciate.. but psychiatry… lets just say that it is a ‘disease of the mind’…. and when it comes to this noun termed as ‘MIND’….. can u explain what it is? where it is? its visibility?… its so subjective and volatile.. u have to believe in its existence.. so how do you treat an invisible thing? how do you treat these so called disease of the mind, where the root problem is the mind and of course not visible……. thats where the fascination comes…

we’ve met with depressive patients, manic ones, paranoid patients, schizophrenic, plus patients with psychoactive substance abused disorder… felt how it feels to face ‘weird’ patients, and having ur safety at stake (bak kata aljohory waktu tuh keselamatan terancam) when u have patients barging through the class room door claiming all his delusion and hallucination phantasy…  this adds to the fun of it.. studying psychiatry.. well, all that has pass and now were having end posting exams.. hope there’s more to discover back in malaysia..

speaking of schizophrenia.. i’ve been reading this chapter in ahuja with unsuccesful attempt to finish… :aie3: .. kreaplin classification of pschiatry illness, bleuler’s fundamental sypmtoms of schizophrenia, schenider’s first rank sypmtom of schizophrenia,…… ambivalence, autism, neologism, echolalia, paraphasias.. all the symptomssss.. urggh.. too much already.. so i sat back and watch back “A beautiful mind“..,

a story of a nobel laureate john nash, who through his life time struggle with his illness and  despite that made a remarkable milestone achievement in economical science..

this time with some knowledge of schizophrenia.. (^_^)..  must watch, as beautiful as its name is, it has a great storyline with message to convey.. note the symptoms of schizophrenia as u watch through.. its great as when i was watching for the first time a year back, i didnt notice it at all.. its true “what the mind do not know, the eyes could not see”…

and here’s, by my opinion the best part of the movie (by my opinion, cuz i like it (^_^)), which wraps up the story beautifully…

I’ve always believed in numbers. In the equations and logics that lead to reason.
But after a lifetime of such pursuits, I ask, what truly is logic? Who decides reason?
My quest has taken me through the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional, and back.

And I have made the most important discovery of my career.
The most important discovery of my life………

It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logical reasons can be found.

I’m only here tonight because of you.
You are the reason I am.
You are all my reasons.

Thank you.

owh.. and he was referring that to his wife.. watch the movie and see why it meant so much to him.. (^_^)…

Adios…
